About AutoFixNotes

AutoFixNotes started with a simple frustration: too much vague advice, too many jargon-heavy guides, and almost nothing in the middle for real car owners.

Our Story

Most car owners search online because something is wrong with their vehicle. They want a clear answer. Instead, they usually find one of two things: advice that is too vague to be useful, or instructions written for professional mechanics. There is very little in the middle.

Robert Bradley, the person behind AutoFixNotes, spent more than 16 years working in real repair shops. He saw the same problem again and again. A customer would come in after following an online guide that left out key steps, used too much jargon, or pointed them in the wrong direction. Some people gave up because the advice made no sense. Others spent money on parts they did not need. Some made the problem worse.

That is why AutoFixNotes was created. The goal is simple: give car owners practical, honest, experience-based information they can actually use.

Robert Bradley

Founder & ASE Master Certified Technician

Robert Bradley is an ASE Master Certified technician with more than 16 years of hands-on experience in automotive repair and diagnostics. He has worked in independent repair shops, dealerships, and specialty performance centers.

Over the years, he has diagnosed and repaired more than 5,000 vehicles — domestic cars and trucks, Japanese imports, European vehicles, daily drivers, high-mileage cars, and performance builds.

Robert did not learn to explain repairs by writing for the internet. He learned it by speaking with real car owners in real shops — many of them confused, stressed, or worried about cost. That is still the standard used on this site today.

What AutoFixNotes Does

AutoFixNotes publishes repair guides, diagnostic articles, and practical automotive advice based on real-world shop experience. Every article starts with a real problem — a symptom, a warning light, a noise, a starting issue, a drivability problem, or a repair question that car owners deal with every day.

The goal is not to impress readers with technical terms. The goal is to help people understand what is happening, what may be causing it, and what they should do next. Sometimes that means a repair you can handle yourself. Sometimes it means being honest and saying the job should go to a professional.

How Content Is Written Here

Every guide on AutoFixNotes follows the same practical process Robert uses in the shop.

1

Start with the Real Symptom

A code reader can give you a fault code, but a code does not always tell you the real problem. AutoFixNotes starts with the actual symptom first — what the car is doing, when it happens, and what changes with heat, speed, load, or time. For example, a P0420 code may suggest a catalytic converter problem, but the same code can also be triggered by a weak oxygen sensor, an exhaust leak, or an engine burning oil.

2

Focus on the Root Cause

Replacing parts without proper diagnosis is one of the fastest ways to waste money. AutoFixNotes does not stop at possible causes. Each article explains the most likely root causes, how they differ from each other, and what signs help you tell them apart.

3

Use Real-World Repair Experience

AutoFixNotes is based on repairs Robert has actually done, problems he has actually diagnosed, and situations he has seen in working shops. A manual may list a torque spec. Experience tells you that the same bolt may be seized after ten years of heat, rust, and road salt. That difference matters when someone is working in a driveway using common tools.

4

Be Honest About Cost and Difficulty

Some jobs are beginner-friendly. Others look simple until you find a stuck fastener, a hidden connector, or a step that requires special tools. AutoFixNotes explains that clearly — including cost, time, tool needs, and the point where professional repair may be the smarter choice.

5

Cover Prevention When It Matters

A good repair guide should not stop at the fix. When possible, AutoFixNotes explains what commonly causes the problem in the first place and what can help prevent it from happening again. That makes each guide more useful in the long run.

Why Readers Can Trust AutoFixNotes

Trust is more important than traffic. A large website is not always a reliable one. Good information comes from accuracy, honesty, and experience.

Every article on AutoFixNotes is held to one simple standard: would Robert say this to someone standing in front of him with a real car problem?

“If the answer is no, it does not belong on the site. That standard shapes every guide, every explanation, and every recommendation published here.”

⚠️ A Note on Affiliate Links

Some links on AutoFixNotes may earn a small commission when you buy through them. This helps support the site and keeps the content free to access.

Robert only recommends parts, tools, and products he would actually use himself, has used before, or would confidently suggest based on real repair experience. No company pays for a better recommendation here.
